I’ll admit something I usually keep to myself: I almost couldn’t start this series. After I lost my dad in 2023, I sat at my desk for days with a blank page, afraid that if I drew him, I’d break. But art has always been the place I go to feel things I can’t say out loud, so I picked up my pen and let the grief find a shape.
These pieces aren’t just drawings to me. They’re love letters to every father who worked late but still made it home in time for a bedtime story. Each stroke carries a quiet gratitude for the dads who shaped us into who we became, often without ever asking for thanks.
The Story Behind My Father Art Series
My dad was everything a father should be — loving, hardworking, and unbelievably kind. He could be tough when the moment called for it, but that toughness always grew out of love, never the other way around.
When he got sick, I watched a strong man meet his final battle with the same quiet dignity he carried his whole life. After he passed, I began drawing father art that would hold onto more than his likeness. I wanted it to hold the feeling of him, and the wider, universal beauty of fatherhood itself.
