Who knew that creating father and son art would become my way of keeping my dad’s memory alive?
For me, this work became part of my healing journey after losing him in 2023. He showed love through morning coffee runs, late-night homework help, and a quiet, steady presence during the hardest moments. When he passed, I realized how much of his love had lived in those small, unhurried spaces between us — the ones you don’t think to name until they’re gone.
The Art Born From Love and Loss

What Makes a Father’s Love Unique
My dad worked hard for our family until illness made it impossible. For twenty years, he battled serious health challenges. But he never stopped showing up. He never stopped caring, never stopped praying, never let his circumstances become an excuse to be absent.
That quiet, unshakeable strength is what I reach for in each father drawing—the steadiness, the sacrifice. These aren’t simply illustrations of two figures. They’re visual prayers of gratitude — my way of saying thank you to a man who gave everything he had.

I’m creating 77 pieces in total. Why 77? It feels complete to me, like the full arc of a long conversation — the kind my dad and I had over the course of a lifetime. Each father and son drawing explores a different facet of that relationship.
Some pieces focus on protection, showing a larger figure sheltering a smaller one within the composition. Others capture teaching moments through intertwined lines and overlapping forms. Understanding Fatherhood Through Art
What does it mean to be a dad? My father taught me it means showing up — even when you’re exhausted, even when your body is fighting you, even when no one would blame you for stepping back. Always present. Always praying. Always there.
